Security and privacy
Is it safe to upload documents to DocFilla?
Forms are full of ID numbers, addresses and bank details. We treat them that way.
Encrypted in transit and in storage
Documents and saved details are encrypted when they travel and when they're stored. ID numbers, banking details and answers are encrypted a second time, under a key that never leaves the server, before they reach the database.
You decide when files are deleted
Delete a document the moment you download it, let it clear itself after 24 hours, or keep it. Deleting your account removes everything, files included.
Never sold, never used to train AI
Your documents and details are used only to fill your forms. We don't sell them, share them or train models on them. Built with POPIA in mind.
Why we built DocFilla
Paper forms are a chore. Online ones aren’t much better.
Print it, fill it in by hand, scan it, email it back. Or open it in a PDF editor, draw text boxes by hand, guess the font size and try to type one letter into each tiny square without anything lining up.

Frequently asked questions
How do I fill in a PDF form online?
Upload the PDF to DocFilla. It detects every field, fills the ones it can from your saved details and shows you the rest. Check the answers, sign, and download the completed PDF.
Can DocFilla fill in scanned or non-fillable PDFs?
Yes. Flat PDFs are read from their printed lines and boxes. Scans and photos are read by the vision agent. Fillable PDFs use their own fields.
Is it safe to upload forms with my ID or passport number?
Files and details are encrypted in transit and at rest, and ID numbers, banking details and answers are encrypted again under a server-side key before they reach the database. Only you can open them.
Do you use my documents to train AI?
No. Your documents and details are used only to fill your own forms. They are never sold, shared or used for training.
Can I sign documents with DocFilla?
Yes. Tap any signature box and draw with a mouse, trackpad or finger. The signature is placed in every signature box you choose.
How long do you keep my files?
By default a downloaded document is deleted 24 hours later. You can delete it right away, or keep it. Change the default in Settings.
Can I try DocFilla without an account?
Yes. You can fill one document without signing up. It stays in your browser and nothing is stored. Create a free account to save your details and fill one document a day.
What does the free plan include?
A free trial of one document a day, with every filling feature, one saved profile and auto-delete. Pro removes the daily limit and adds family profiles.
How does paying for Pro work?
Pro is a 30-day pass for R99, paid once through Yoco with a South African card or instant EFT. Nothing renews automatically: when the pass runs out you go back to the free trial, and you can buy another 30 days whenever you like.
Which file types work?
PDF, JPG and PNG up to 25 MB. Photos of paper forms are wrapped into a PDF automatically.
